LIQUIDITY — 8 MIN READ
Liquidity Pre-Funding for Corridors
Plan liquidity pre-funding for corridors so cut-offs and value dates do not strand accepted S2S messages without sufficient nostro or settlement headroom.
|
Accepting messages is not funding them
Protocol 101.1 acceptance without liquidity headroom creates queues of valid messages that cannot settle. Pre-funding policies define how much nostro or settlement capacity each corridor needs by value date before cut-off.
globalserverbank is not a licensed bank and does not provide funding. It is not affiliated with Visa.
Coordinate funding signals with Global Server Protocol status codes and cut-off operations.
Headroom models and alerts
Track projected outflows versus nostro available, including in-flight reservations from Protocol 201.3. Alert treasury before rejecting for liquidity when possible; hard-reject when policy requires fail-closed.
See cross-border liquidity corridors and partial settlement.
Systems placement
Liquidity projection jobs should not starve live posting. Host them on cloud banking servers with read replicas of balances where architecture allows.

Frequently asked questions
Can pre-funding be same-day only?
Corridors often need T+N projections by value date calendars, not only intraday cash.
Is a messaging ACK a funding commitment?
No. Funding is a treasury and nostro control separate from Protocol 101.1 ACK.
Does globalserverbank pre-fund corridors?
No. It documents design patterns only.
